Fruit smoothie Paintings

Fruit smoothie Paintings

I started this new process which i really enjoy doing

I concentrate most on two things

1. The continuos changing effect during the drying process

2. The smell
which changes too as time passes

Its kind of like a smoothie

Smoothie first
Ink Second

This is near the start
You see how the water is starting to spread throughout the paper, this is the beginning of the process

Still changing....

Water spreads then the ink follows shortly after
It works by layer,

1. Water
2. Fruit
3. Ink

Water spreader even further, ink patterns evolving

This is the final outcome, after it dried. I doubt it dried out complete, still little damp
I am amazed but the transformation

----------------------------------------------------->Honey + Ink<--------------------------------------------------

I tried out honey before the fruit stages.
I found that honey freezes the motion of the ink inside, like a chamber.

It acts as a holding unit

The outcome creates an amazing 3Dimensional however there is a problem in using honey

Honey doesn't dry.

Honey was a difficult medium to maintain. I need to find a way to freeze it.

------------------------------------------------------>Lemon<--------------------------------------------------------

Here i used lemon.

I also drew a little symbol on each piece, to indicate the fruit i used.
Like a signature of the fruit

Painting of my Brother

Painting of my Brother

This was a day painting. Interested in a south east asian artist named Attasit Pokpong

He believes that a facial expression is a window into the soul

I like this saying and believe it to be true

I was inspired by this and followed his technique with the background, single toned colour, but i changed the style when it came to the face. I added a lot more colours, in a rather random notion. I wanted to see what effects the colours would have on the viewers.

Let me know what you think

I plan to change this technique i used and develop it more. Too many colours in my opinion. or is it?

Christmas In Hong Kong 2013

Christmas Doing's

So i went back to my hometown of Hong kong, Sai kung for Christmas. A B....E.....A.....utiful place.

I love photography, always have. I love taking my camera out and getting results that please me.

Have any of you heard of the artist Sophie Calle? No.... look her up NOW!

She's like a secret spy who follows people and documents their actions using photography and text

Me, I created these images because of the inspiration i had of her work

These are called "Surveillance".

"Woman with Shopping bags"
2013

I wanted to concentrate on the subject as well as her surroundings at the same time.

This one isn't part of "Survellance"
I took this cause of its abstract form, the insane amounts of windows and air conditioners in such a cramped space.

"Woman pushing Trolley"
2013

In these photos, the surroundings are shot differently, its like a 180 panorama but isn't. If displayed alongside each other it would make a clearer overall image. I tried to create a more interesting perspective using different ables to show the setting she was in.

Took this whilst walking in Central.  Reminded me of the movie "I am Legend"

I was leaving this building when i saw this old geezer walk in. He held roses in his hand with a smile on his face. Very romantic and hit a spot inside of me. This goes to prove that you're never too old for romantic gestures. Give your loved one a rose today

Few pieces i did in hong kong and will continue doing once i get back there!

Winey Paper

Winey Paper

I was very inspired by the artist Elisabetta Rogai, she is an artist that paints using wine. She said that this process is very interesting because the colour of the wine changes over time.

That part about changing over time, i do this in my other pieces of artwork, swell as these pieces.

I soaked pieces of paper in wine, red and white.

I spread that occurred was interesting too to watch.

All this is with one kind of special paper.

What i love about these pieces is that even after a long period of time, they still smell strongly of wine.

And the colour has slightly changed, is not as bright red anymore, and the mix of white and red has created patterns within the image.

Whilst pouring, this is to recycle the wine, not to waste any, pour back onto the paper

Made a few

  • They smell strongly of wine
  • Colour changing as time passes
  • Patterns being formed during process kept patterns intact afterwards

Acryliced Cotton

Acryliced Cotton

I was in my experimental stage when i found out this interesting technique
So i continued on with it

I would create watered down acrylic paint in cups

Then placing cotton pads inside, one by one.

Placing them on the paper which in fact is a special kind of paper. i tried looking for it in UK art shops but they are yet to be seen.

After i place the cotton in, i pull it out and place it in a creative order on the paper
After that i let it work its process

The Beauty about this is that their is a performance going on during the drying process, it continues to change. Every second form the start is different

The water spreads first but still wet, the the colour follows.

Its really a wonderful process, i enjoy it because i get to see it evolve every minute of the day whilst drying, and is very delicate at the end which gives it this unique touch.

Here are some other examples of the pieces i made, all A3

End of 2013 Chelsea Show

End of 2013 Chelsea Show

This is what i put up for the end of year show.

4 Paintings
Acrylic

One on Canvas and others on 150gsm paper.

Title of this is "Identity"

Studying human behaviour and psychology led me to these pieces.

The display was different, coloured pins hammered into the walls to keep paintings up.

Green pins for the Red background painting
Yellow for Blue
Red for Green

And Blue for the yellow background painting

I couldn't use the pins and pin it through the canvas, so i used it to hang up the canvas. The blue pins are there, just can't see it.

This is how i left it. Too much space around the painting? Makes the overall paintings look small.
I like the fact the the outline of the overall piece isn't like the usuals, square, rectangle. this is different. looks a but like Tetris.

This is how i intended the piece to be displayed

Due to the overall show, several works were moved around.

I was on the flight to Hong Kong and unable to rearrange my pieces

They were moved and displayed up for me

Not the greatest outcome overall.

Good or Bad Idea?

This is one of the ideas i had, but didn't end up pursuing.

I decided to do test pieces on photoshop before

Here i am looking at the item;

What condition is it in?
How has it got to that stage?
How did the item end up in that location?
How people have interacted with it before, during and after its use?
Any wear, tear, damage done to it?

Bringing the item from an image out onto a stand for people to inspect it.
see it for what is really is.

Asking questions with no real answer

The water bottle is rotated differently, have to watch out for this.

If i were to do this, i think i need more interesting items, location varies but item is the key to get people's attention, and the more thats happened to it, may be more interesting to view
