New "Brick Lane Market" Paintings, 2014

These paintings went a lot better. I feel more comfortable knowing what i am doing now in my practice, its been a while since i have created work this fluidly. 

I Dont actually plan what i am going to paint, i look at my research and decide then and there. Colour is a factor when thinking, i tend to choose darker colours now for the background therefore the brighter more vibrato images in the foreground will catch more contrast.

Not everything is appropriated. I have actually created some things on my own. Like these vomit like patterns. That was my own interpretation of what i thought would look good in this painting. The directions guides the viewers eyes throughout the whole painting. This is good 

This is more playful, makes you happy and energetic. Positive energy is radiated form this kind of painting which is why i enjoy creating it

"Brick Lane Market #4, 2014"

This piece seems rather chaotic  

Lots of things happening, many subjects within the image, especially the foreground with the 5 horsemen riding around the painting, like a tornado of activity and colour overwhelming the audience. 

 "Brick Lane Market #5, 2014"

This piece i actually think went better than the previous two. The triangular patter is a definite positive that went well. It flows through the whole painting which connects everything together, bringing it into one to the audience. 

Colours are bright, like sun like bright. Feeling of it is light. 

Compositions isn't too bad, In this piece, i decided to use more image than text. 

The start with Brick Lane Market #1 and #2, i used around 70% image and 30% text. 

In the others like "Alleyway: and "Berwick Street" i used like 70% text and 30% imagery. 

I wanted to create balance. 

In this i tried to go for a 60% imagery and 40% text

I started doing this with Bricklane Market #1 and #2, and i thought it was a change and made it look very interesting. 

It can link to the streets of London as it has a similar visual appearance to a brick on a wall. 

"Alleyway, 2014" 

I was walking in london and i came across an alleyway that was kind of grim and dirty. No body gave it a second look, which i am not surprise but the artwork in the alleyway should be recognised. I used the images and text in this alleyway to create a painting that will look aesthetically pleasing, hopefully changing viewers minds and giving street art a second look whenever they see t in whatever situation. 

I am rather fond of this piece, Many things worked well in this. The paint splatter gave it this spray can feel to it and freedom of expressing on a surface. 

In the background i started painting texts that i found, then in the foreground i used this symbol. 

"Berwick Street, 2014" 

This was not a market nor an alleyway. It was a street. 

I wouldn't say this piece was very successful but it was good that i did it, to learn what went badly and what went well 

This compared to my other pieces feels less vibrant in colour use. 

"Deptford Market, 2014" 

This piece went the less successful 

Very plain, simple, empty

Feels lost in text and colour 

There is not as much depth in this painting because the background colour is similar to foreground image colours. 

 I will continually paint 

Next will be more Brick Lane market paintings. I feel that this market had a brilliant balance between text and imagery. I went to do research there twice and did a lot of research!

I started this new process which i really enjoy doing

I concentrate most on two things

1. The continuos changing effect during the drying process

2. The smell 

which changes too as time passes

Its kind of like a smoothie

Ink Second

This is near the start 

You see how the water is starting to spread throughout the paper, this is the beginning of the process

Still changing....

Water spreads then the ink follows shortly after

It works by layer,

1. Water

2. Fruit

3. Ink

Water spreader even further, ink patterns evolving

This is the final outcome, after it dried. I doubt it dried out complete, still little damp

I am amazed but the transformation

I tried out honey before the fruit stages. 

I found that honey freezes the motion of the ink inside, like a chamber. 

It acts as a holding unit

The outcome creates an amazing 3Dimensional however there is a problem in using honey

Honey doesn't dry.

Honey was a difficult medium to maintain. I need to find a way to freeze it.

I also drew a little symbol on each piece, to indicate the fruit i used.

Christmas In Hong Kong 2013

So i went back to my hometown of Hong kong, Sai kung for Christmas. A B....E.....A.....utiful place. 

I love photography, always have. I love taking my camera out and getting results that please me.

She's like a secret spy who follows people and documents their actions using photography and text

Me, I created these images because of the inspiration i had of her work

These are called "Surveillance".

 I wanted to concentrate on the subject as well as her surroundings at the same time. 

This one isn't part of "Survellance" 

I took this cause of its abstract form, the insane amounts of windows and air conditioners in such a cramped space.

In these photos, the surroundings are shot differently, its like a 180 panorama but isn't. If displayed alongside each other it would make a clearer overall image. I tried to create a more interesting perspective using different ables to show the setting she was in. 

Took this whilst walking in Central.  Reminded me of the movie "I am Legend"

I was leaving this building when i saw this old geezer walk in. He held roses in his hand with a smile on his face. Very romantic and hit a spot inside of me. This goes to prove that you're never too old for romantic gestures. Give your loved one a rose today

Failed project ..... 1 outcome!

This was the "Failed Project" 

Where i handed out name cards and was suppose to receive emails back containing photographs of what each person thought was beautiful through their eyes. 

Out of around 30 i had one response!

At the start, there was already some technical problems. 

I am sure many of you have experienced some in the past

There was no photo 

 So i emailed back

He sent me it again, and told me the location. 

I printed the image off, as you can see, technology doesn't always produce what you want. Quality is poor in this print

I then decided to edit it. 

Everything can be improved, nothing is perfect

By me doing this through photoshop, has it improved it or ruined it? 

The shadow may have given the image some presence of human kind, knowing that someone was there to take the photo.

By changing the way it looks, does it ruin what happened in real life? 

Technology has so many problems but benefits too. 

When it comes to FINE art, is it doing it justice?

It was nice to see what this one person thought was beautiful through his eyes. 

I was hoping for a wide range of responses. 

Art you miss everyday

Art You Miss Everyday

During visits to galleries, i look at how people interact with the space around them and how they loo at the pieces of art. 

We take our time to look carefully at every detail, the brushstrokes and colours in galleries but why not outside?

So in Edinburgh i did a small project, looking at 3 things. 

1. The texture in our surrounding

2. The colour within the texture, the colour expressed in the overall photograph. 

3. Evidence of people's interaction

Footprints

Wear and tear (both weather and people)

I really like this piece, the fact that it emphasises the sunlight that shines on a single leaf in between the gaps.

Shadow looks like a face

Experimented with different colours, changing the mood of the image which can create a different outcome to viewers. 

Contrast between the subject and colour when turned to pinky red. 

The colours are really exaggerated here and i loved how it turned out. (top and bottom)

Footprints showing signs of presence.

Damages in nature, like broken twigs caused by mankind.

This is a tear in a taxi cab
